Incumbent Texas Lieutenant Governor David Dewhurst was insufficiently extreme to win a majority of the votes in the Republican primary, so he's facing his worst nightmare—state Senator Dan Patrick (Tea Party)—in the May 27th primary runoff election.
Fresh off his humiliating defeat in the 2012 U.S. Senate primary runoff with Ted Cruz, Lt. Gov. Dewhurst is trying rather desperately to avoid the same fate this time around.
So Dewhurst's campaign has launched a series of personal attack ads (don't worry—this is definitely a two-way street), culminating in today's release of "Dan Patrick sings 'The Ballad of Dannie Goeb.'" Dewhurst's latest attack video consists of a truly awful parody of "Let It Go" from Frozen. You've been warned.

This is what incredibly long runoff elections produce.
Nope. Rather than continue to excuse the extreme antics of the Republican Party of Texas as they pander 24/7 to their base, the traditional media needs to make the Texas GOP own their antics and just admit that Ted Cruz-style politics is here to stay in their party.
Dewhurst will lose the primary runoff. The only question now is by how much.
PS Here's state Sen. Patrick's reply:
