Happy Mother's Day to all Kibitzers and visitors. Here's hoping your day meets and exceeds all expectations.
After my almost traumatic efforts last week to load 1700 photos from an older camera to my laptop, finally successful, I decided to present a few select photos from our trip to Turkey. We traveled with Overseas Adventure Travel, with which we had traveled before. They feature groups of no more than 16 people which is an enjoyable size.
One of the first sites we visited was The Blue Mosque.
Blue Mosque in Istanbul.
The surrounding grounds were park-like. At the time of our trip Kossack
RealityBias was posting often, so I couldn't resist this sign:
Note number four in English.
The room itself.
Grit your teeth and stare at the ceiling.
In Ephesus we saw the exact spot where Paul preached. The silversmiths chased him out of town because he warned about idols and was wrecking their business.
"Get out and stay out".
Modern looking baptismal font. Step down….step back up and out.
The most wonderful part of the trip was five days on a ship, sailing the Mediterranean. I saw photos in the literature but I had no idea. These ships are called gulets, common there, and are basically yachts. I was in heaven the whole time, cruising the coast and anchoring wherever. The water was clear and wine dark, full of fish. I found it difficult to imagine Roman ships fighting each other in the midst of such ethereal beauty.
Our ship at anchor. We were in a small boat heading for an island hike.
Oh, how I wish I was back there now.
The food was plentiful and fabulous. We ate all our meals on deck because the weather was perfect. It was difficult to believe that much food, so well prepared, could come out of a tiny galley.
The table, as with everything on the ship, was elegant.
We went swimming, but the water was cold. Our group leader, Mustapha, swam for an hour, but I only lasted 5 minutes.
You could freeze your ……..off.
This group of buildings was built by Anthony as a gift to Cleopatra. Seems as though the water level was lower then.
Low price fixer-upper. Bit of a challenge.
My favorite coastal restaurant, but I can't remember the city. The harbor was filled with Turkish gun boats, which was a little scary, but hey, I wanted a beer.
Best tasting beer ever.
Well, there's a small sample of the 1700 photos now on the computer. I will happily expand on this series if others would appreciate it. Any errors I made could be corrected by
InAntalya,I'm sure.

Kitchen Table Kibitzing is a community series for those who wish to share part of the evening around a virtual kitchen table with kossacks who are caring and supportive of one another. So bring your stories, jokes, photos, funny pics, music, and interesting videos, as well as links—including quotations—to diaries, news stories, and books that you think this community would appreciate. Readers may notice that most who post diaries and comments in this series already know one another to some degree, but newcomers should not feel excluded. We welcome guests at our kitchen table, and hope to make some new friends as well.
