FCC Chairman Tom Wheeler
Received this e-mail today from Senator Al Franken (D. MN) on behalf of himself and Senator Cory Booker (D. NJ) regarding the FCC and net neutrality:
Fast Internet is good. Letting big telecom companies speed up select parts of the Internet is bad. Like your neighborhood hardware store's website loading slower than a corporate competitor that pays those telecom companies for special access.
There’s a proposed rule change from the FCC that would allow content providers to purchase Internet “fast lanes” -- which would deliver their content faster than everyone else's.
This is the opposite of what the FCC told us it would do on net neutrality. Net neutrality guarantees a level playing field on the Internet. It is the free speech issue of our time. But if this rule change goes through, it could be disastrous for both consumers and anyone who doesn’t work for an established Internet giant.
I’m joining with Senator Cory Booker and Daily Kos to call on the FCC to reject this rule change and to protect net neutrality -- click here to add your name to ours.

The last thing we should be doing is handing over more power to big companies like Comcast at the expense of consumers. Net neutrality is a cornerstone of the Internet, and it should stay that way.
Sign our petition and demand that the FCC reject the proposed rule change.

Thanks for your help.
Al
P.S.: Team Franken will not purchase its own Internet fast lane. To sign our petition, you’ll have to use the old-fashioned Internet -- while it’s still around.
