I once wrote a post titled,"The night the monsters came". I tell a true story of a person I loved who was raped. It happened to her over two years ago. From that moment until
now ,she is a changed person. She has many emotional issues like fear, anger, and
trust issues with Men.
I mention this, because on Monday the 19th,a prominent attorney in Seattle, will be sentenced to 25 years in prison for pleading guilty to five rapes. He WAS an attorney
with a prestigious law firm in Seattle. He has three children and a wife who is a judge.
This man attacked vulnerable women who worked in massage parlors. He picked his victims because he thought he could get away with it. He raped not for sexual reasons,
but for power and domination over another person. His attorney said he is dealing
with mental issues. That is a nice way of saying the man is a psychotic. He could care
less about the trauma he caused his victims.
'Statistic Brain" says 89,000 rapes were reported last year. 16% of the reported rapes
happened to men. I say "reported rapes" because many rapes are never reported.
I can't imagine anything more horrible than rape. Reporting this crime, takes courage and strength. If it isn't reported,it allows the rapist to rape again. That is the reason
my lady reported it.The two men who assaulted her have yet to be caught.
If your trying to help someone who has been raped, give them space, your love and
always remind the victim rape is NEVER their fault. Be very patient and just be there
for the victim.
If you have been raped,or have a friend who has been,I urge you to go to www.aftersilence.org. You can also call 800-656-HOPE.
