Hi again beer fans, and happy Friday. Come share a cold one with us!
I've drunk some odd stuff, but this is an idea that never crossed my mind: Asparagus beer?
in the northern Michigan town of Empire, there’s an asparagus festival that was celebrated last weekend. It was at this event Spear Beer Asparagus Ale made its 2014 seasonal debut. This beer was originally created specifically for this festival by Right Brain Brewing Company, located in Traverse City, Mich.
Spear Beer is brewed with more than 50 pounds of grilled asparagus. It is an extremely light-bodied ale with a strong asparagus essence and mild charred notes from the grill, accented by the addition of real lemon peel.
... the brewery also makes ... Schrute Farm’s Beet Saison (fruit beer made with real Detroit Beets and coriander, 5.8% ABV), Apple Pie Whole (amber ale brewed with 40 real apple pies, crust and ale, 6.5% ABV), Mangalitsa Pig Porter (rich and chocolaty porter brewed with real smoked pig heads and bones, 6.6% ABV) ...
(h/t Beerpulse) Asparagus? Beets? I'll stick with grain thanks.
I've got Sam Adams "Rebel" IPA. What are you drinking? Who's brewing?
