At the point where the arch meets the ball of my left foot to be exact. It isn't very deep but it covers a large area. It is pernicious and leaves no way of being ignored.
It only arrives when I begin to put on my left shoe. So I know exactly what causes the itch. And where the itch really is. Because it isn't in my foot at all but the short circuiting of my spinal bundle. When I do the gymnastics of putting on my shoe in order to go out my foot begins itching furiously. I could submit to the urge to take to the itch with my bare fingers and try and tame it with the distraction a prolonged scratch provides. But the relief is only transitory and actually does more harm than good in dragging nails across that tender flesh.
I could use damage in another way and have the cause of the nerve impulses cauterized or cut away. But that too is only addressing the symptom.
Ironically the best way to combat the itch is to put on my shoes and go do something. This eases the pressure on my spine through movement.
