More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.

My ankle is still fusing back together.
The muscles on that side are pretty weak, so I have to be aware that I'm not back to full speed.

Being patient and not abusing the ankle in the early stages of healing was difficult.

The muscles have really atrophied so between them getting tired and the discomfort of the break in the healing stages, it's easy for me to "give up" and not over-do it.

NASCAR racer Tony Stewart more severely broke both his lower leg bones last August.
He's still recovering so it indicates to me that this isn't a minor issue...
            and I'm not 14 anymore.

My mother was great at stuff like this.
She'd advise us kids to set a realistic timeline, (6 months and 1 year in this case), and just let time go by until those dates roll around.
            It's a real perspective.

First, I was sitting on our side deck reading about 8 am. I looked up to see a doe, (a deer) on the driveway, no more than 7 feet from me. Absolutely quiet until I moved my leg and she took off stopping to wait for her smaller offspring, to walk right past me as well, They kind of meandered off....
Then later, I heard a plane, loud and getting really loud and kinda thundering loud - an F-14? flew fight over the house and I swear to gawd I saw it kinda tip it's wings. I did scream WOOOOOWWW at that. The jet I took as a Dad thing. He'd sometimes track a plane flying over the ocean and say "Take me for a ride." Joking...kinda, once a pilot

    •  Cool. Was it a female deer? (3+ / 0-)

only by the lack of antlers, although the youngun may have been a young buck. I didn't check as it walked by. The base of the coast range is just about a half mile behind us, and I've seen them at night, but never that close. They're beautiful things, and moved so quietly. Do you have them around your parts?
It just seemed natural to a doe, a deer, and yes, a female deer

        Looked up the Jet

and it's easy to confuse them from a doe.

a  couple of years ago a young bear was hit by a car on highway 101, shut down traffic for a couple of hours until Fish and wildlife came. A young deer ran across 101, well ahead of me, but came close to a car going the other way tonight on my way home from Tilly. We saw some coyotes a couple years ago, but they're in Portland too. We have some Blue Herrons and raccoons around the lake across the highway, Elk in the Tilly forest.

Mostly baldies and osprey.  Saw some bear scat on the access road a coupla years back, Floyd has tangled with some coons.  Thought better about messing with the wild turkeys, he was greatly outnumbered.  saw a fox in the distance one winter.

and raccoons, too. That's what you get when you live in a town on Vancouver Island surrounded by miles and miles of bush.

The Island is over-run with deer and rabbits. I've had to put mesh over every raised veggy bed because they eat anything and everything. Most people mesh or otherwise protect the important plants in their yards.

We have a resident bear living near the mobile home park. He feeds on the blackberries and apples in the fall.

One night I went to let the cat out and there he was, trying to get into my neighbours garbage bin. He had no luck, even after rolling it around. We have bear-proof locks for garbage bins around here, since there are so many of bears and once one gets habituated to garbage, they have to be shot. No-one wants that. He finally moved on to another neighbour's bin and had better luck. They forgot to lock theirs!

It's normal to see bears wandering the streets in our town. They had to evacuate the patrons of a restaurant from the patio last fall. A bear was on the roof ( don't ask me how he got up there). After he was chased away, business went back to usual.

and many of the weekend warriors leave Sunday mid-day, Sunday evenings get quiet and the deer will come very close.

Last October, I was sitting at the campfire, reading a book, listening to the World Series and realized the presence of 4 or 5 very big does 8 or 10 feet away.

As I shuffled in my chair, or turned pages, they'd pick up their heads to check me, but went right back to grazing.

I've awoken to find 50-60 deer all around my camper at dawn.
