Only yesterday, Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America began asking Target to clarify their open carry policies. They posted photos like this one, highlighting the Open Carry Texas idiots wandering through a Target:
I would laugh at the irony if it weren't so sad ... and dangerous:
A 9mm handgun, loaded with live ammunition, has been found in the toy aisle of a Target store in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.
To add even more irony, the open carry folks were posting on Facebook gems like this:
"We like baby toys!" one open carry supporter chimed in on Facebook.
S.C. Gov. Nikki Haley said Tuesday that she backs a proposal that would make it legal for most South Carolinians to carry guns – concealed or in the open – without a permit or the training that the state currently requires. What could possibly go wrong? I mean, there's no conceivable reason to think that someone might set down their weapon for a minute and forget about it, right? Or carry a weapon into a store and leave it there intentionally? Or someone might grab your loaded weapon and use it against you?
Haley made her comments after she signed into law a bill that allows gun owners with licenses to carry concealed weapons into businesses that serve alcohol – restaurants and bars – as long as they do not drink alcohol and the businesses did not bar guns.
Woowee! This is just like the good old Wild West days! Only instead of dusty roads and saloons, our shootouts are in toy aisles.
Oh, one last insult, according to Jamelle Bouie of The Daily Beast, Haley's Constitutional Carry Act means you don't need any training, either!
If you were a resident of South Carolina and wanted to carry a weapon—concealed or otherwise—then under this law you could. No classes, no tests, no background checks, no questions.~facepalm~
Edited to add: Florida man leaves a loaded gun on a ride at Disney World.
Officials said that the woman found the pistol on the Dinosaur ride at Animal Kingdom. The woman turned over the loaded weapon to a park attendant, who then contacted her manager and authorities.Ok, shootouts in toy aisles AND Disney World. (h/t FromRedtoBlue)
[Angelo] Lista told authorities he didn't know Disney World patrons weren't allowed to bring guns.
