Ive blogged about Elkart County Sheriff Brad Rodgers before. He was one of those Oath Keepers who rushed down to support Cliven Bundy, and they even got a picture of him in his uniform with Bundy. My sister who lives in Indiana wrote to Rodgers to complain how inappropriate that was, and he responded by telling her that she didn't know what was going on in Nevada.
After the killings in Nevada, I decided to troll Sheriff Rodgers. I was angry about what happened because it was foreseeable. The hysteria on the extreme right is being aided and abetted by the media and those in positions of authority, and I think it is especially vile that a law enforcement official should be part of a movement that encourages law breaking, which I believe the Oath Keepers do. Some will not think it fair, but people like Rodgers are shouting "Fire" in a crowded theater.
I wrote the following:
I hope you are still proud of your support of Cliven Bundy and the other extremists out in Nevada. Too bad one of Bundy's supporters, Jerad Miller, killed two police officers in Nevada.
Yes, I know I misspelled Miller's first name. Anyway, I didn't expect any response to be honest. I'd have ignored a comment from some out of state dude if I was a county sheriff with better things to do with my time. But he did respond:
And that has to do with Bundy? There are nut cases everywhere.
I did not respond back with the obvious, "Yeah, and I know of one in Elkhart Indiana too."
