Advertising
From wikipedia:
Advertising or advertizing[ in business is a form of marketing communication used to encourage, persuade, or manipulate an audience (viewers, readers or listeners; sometimes a specific group) to take or continue to take some action. Most commonly, the desired result is to drive consumer behavior with respect to a commercial offering, although political and ideological advertising is also common.
It has been around for a long while, but increasingly since radio, television, and the internet it has become ubiquitous, unavoidable, and the prime driver of commerce.

Now we are all familiar with this info; the wiki article has all you ever know about advertising and more. But I have been noticing an increase in on line advertising on sites where it was not as noticeable before. YouTube, Photobucket, and anywhere google has its finger in the door. "All your searches are belong to us". Two questions arise for me. Does anyone else sense the increase? And the key question for today: does anyone here respond to any on line ad, or even read them?
I have muted every ad I've ever seen on TV or heard on the radio. I might scan an advertising newspaper insert if I'm looking for a particular thing, but I can truthfully say that advertising does not work on me at all. Since I have a lifetime subscription at DKos I don't see ads. And internet ads become an unreadable blur as I encounter them. Google and some other advertisers are dealing with this by creating pop ups which don't disappear even when you click the x.
So my mind creates its own adblock. How do ads affect (and effect) you? Have you had any luck with ad block programs for the masses, both Windows and Apple?
Here it is the second day of summer and I am already flooded with zucchinis. I always plant a lot in case of foggy and cold weather, but these lovely warm days are producing lots. At this time of the summer they are more than welcome. And best of all I have ripe tomatoes. One of my 35 plants was apparently mis-labeled in the nursery and is a cherry tomato; not my favorite but early and productive. You all know how much work and energy I put into my tomatoes, but here's an example of nature's EZ way of doing things, growing out of the side of my composter:

Kitchen Table Kibitzing is a community series for those who wish to share part of the evening around a virtual kitchen table with kossacks who are caring and supportive of one another. So bring your stories, jokes, photos, funny pics, music, and interesting videos, as well as links—including quotations—to diaries, news stories, and books that you think this community would appreciate. Readers may notice that most who post diaries and comments in this series already know one another to some degree, but newcomers should not feel excluded. We welcome guests at our kitchen table, and hope to make some new friends as well.
