Wednesday was downright soggy. It was coming down in buckets my whole trip to work.
As you can see by Itzl's concerned look, this group is for us to check in at to let people know we are alive, doing OK, and not affected by such things as heat, blizzards, floods, wild fires, hurricanes, tornadoes, power outages, or other such things that could keep us off DKos. It's also so we can find other Kossacks nearby for in-person checks when other methods of communication fail - a buddy system. Members come here to check in. If you're not here, or anywhere else on DKos, and there are adverse conditions in your area (floods, heatwaves, hurricanes, etc.), we and your buddy are going to check up on you. If you are going to be away from your computer for a day or a week, let us know here. We care!
We have split up the publishing duties, but we welcome everyone in IAN to do daily diaries for the group! Every member is an editor, so anyone can take a turn when they have something to say, photos and music to share, a cause to promote or news!
If you would like to fill in, either post in thread or send FloridaSNMom a Kosmail with the date. If you need someone to fill in, ditto. FLSNMom is here on and off through the day usually from around 9:30 or 10 am eastern to around 11 pm eastern.
If you'd like to be part of the Itzl Alert Network, please leave a comment asking to join, or send us a message asking to join. We'd love to have you. The bigger our network, the less likely someone will be stranded all alone.
It was also too warm for my full-length coat. I do have a jacket, but it was a real struggle to get the blasted thing off once I got to my office. I could have wrung the sleeves out by the time I got inside.
I do like rain, but not this time of year.
I did get the newly re-edited Kindle version of Murder and Mendelssohn on Friday. It is much less grating to read through. The man I was emailing back and forth with at the publishing company sent me a copy of it in case Amazon didn't oblige me (they did), and a link to Amazon's instructions on how to download such files to my Kindle. I think I will wait to try that till Monday - my work email is kind of iffy when accessed from home. I've actually decided to spend the weekend listening to the audio version I bought when it came available last year - it's quite the best of the audio versions of the Phryne Fisher books that I've heard.
I found a recipe for buttermilk banana bread about 10 days ago. I bought some bananas and buttermilk when I got my groceries last weekend, and made it using spelt and rice flours. It was quite good, actually. I did take five days to finish the loaf, but that's about the speed at which I eat any quick bread. I've made another loaf using brown sugar rather than white. Don't know what it tastes like yet.
The situation at work has worked out well so far. Some day I may talk about it.
I spent Friday evening babysitting. Salvador Mollie's has opened a new location fairly close by where I live, and my daughter was invited to join a couple of work friends there. Things went well, except when the new guinea pig made it out of his cage - it took 20 minutes at least to recapture the little beast. My grandson wasn't even upset about his mother going out without him - a little puzzled about why the car wasn't gone, but not upset.
