I'm not going to Detroit. Truth to tell I probably would have if I'd known I'd get to participate in Netroots Nation AND be part of an uprising against shit-stupid bureaucrats and one-percent overseers who TURN OFF PEOPLE'S WATER BECAUSE THEY CAN'T PAY AND THEN FINE THEM FOR TRYING TO SUPPLY THEMSELVES WITH H2O.
Detroit Water and Sewage Department spokeman Greg Eno got to the heart of the issue yesterday:
The Detroit Water and Sewerage Department cited 79 accounts in the city for illegal water usage in a three-day span earlier this month, resulting in $21,750 in fees...
"It's another example of money that we're not getting that's due to us," DWSD spokesman Greg Eno said. "Those people should be put on notice ... if you're flat-out stealing, we’re coming after you as well."
Oh, THOSE people. Stealing water. For nefarious purposes... like drinking it to stay alive. Or using it to cook for for their kids. THOSE people.
Does it really have to be made any clearer?
Anyway, you all are going to have to do it without me. `Give Greg Eno and Keyvn Orr, Detroit's "emergency manager," what for. And let the good people of Detroit know we'd love to ship them all some water from out here in California... if we had any.
But seeing as they plenty of it in some lake I hear tell is nearby, I think they should demand it as a human right. Or next Mr. Orr will be shutting off the air.
