It is a sad day in this world of ours:
Passenger jet shot down in Ukraine
Israel begins ground affensive in Gaza
Cross border gunfire on the border between India and Pakistan
ISIS in running battle with Kurds in Syria
By appearances the East is on the verge of world war. Join in the discussion Please!
The Eastern hemisphere is a set of dominoes about to be tipped over by a stick of dynamite.
US Intelligence confirms the Malaysian jet was shot down. By what or who is still up in the air. Ukraine and Russia are about to go toe to toe and the civilian population will pay.
Israel continues to wage eye for stacks of bloody corpses conflict. Four Palestinian boys killed might create a pause but not in the Israel/Palestine conflict.
ISIS is attempting to consolidate power, through military might, over all the militant groups in the region. The latest attacks on Syrian Kurds have the possibility of bringing the Peshmerga and Turkish Kurds into the conflict if they are not already participating.
Pakistan and India continue with low intensity conflict, but India has a new Administration and we will have to see how they handle this latest border skirmish.
Please excuse my over simplification of these world events. I will save the complexities for our discussion below.
We are witnessing the destabilization of the East. Most of the Eastern hemisphere is in a precarious situation because we cannot ignore the China/Japan arguements. In the present climate the East is set to blow. How does the US open the fire hose and water down this blossoming inferno?
Many on the right blame this on Obama's "weakness" as a world leader. Few choose to recall the destabilizing effects of fighting two wars; Iraq and Afghanistan. Some (McCain et al) say the cure is more war for the US since those went/are going so well. American hegemony has created or inflamed many of these regions. More American hegemony is not the answer.
What is the answer?
