A little town near me hosts what is called a world's fair every summer ~ it's been going since 1852. It's small, but has most of the elements of larger fairs.... since Friday was a perfect summer day (78 degrees, sunny with just enough clouds to give the sky character, a nice breeze....), I decided to meander over with my camera. Admission was only $5, so it's cheap fun!
Follow me below the orange squiggle for some pictures.
In case one isn't sure what is going on:
The exhibit hall had the usual array of crafts:

And other crafts and goodies of rural life:
The local no-kill shelter (see Pam LaPier's diary from last week in her wonderful Rescue Me series on them)had some cuties available for adoption ~ my wee beasties are very happy they didn't acquire a younger sibling ;-)
The program for feral cats:
Wandering around:
Bread and soaps for sale:
Friends of mine were in the fiber tent spinning:
It's Maine, so lumbering and papermilling (the Democratic candidate for governor this year, Mike Michaud, is a former paper mill worker, and he maintains his union membership, if the news reports I've read are correct) are important:
A blacksmith working:
Again, since it's Maine, there's Moxie for sale alongsidse the more widespread fair foods and beverages:
These horses (they perform in the pulling ring) are quite big:
And, finally, some adorable animals:
