I've been waiting for a Christian voice to reclaim the moral high ground from the so-called Christian Right. This could be the beginning of a sea change in our national politics and the death knell of the Southern Strategy. It only takes one person to say something so straight, so undeniable, so brilliantly, that the debate is changed for good.
Haven't heard the speech he gave at Netroots Nation? Check it out. He's the Moral Monday's guy from North Carolina, rallying for Medicaid expansion. And he's much more too. He frames a moral fusion movement to unite the 99%, although he does not use that term. He talks about poor whites voting their interest rather than their fears. He talks about the center of what it means to be American. He includes women's rights, LBGT, environment, tax policy, immigration; all the progressive issues. He lays bare the agenda and motives of the tea party and their cronies. And as for Christian values, I doubt there is a white conservative Christian leader who would want to debate him.
