The Philadelphia Inquirer has gotten a local automaker to sponsor reprints from 1964. I wasn't born yet, but it sounds like a very interesting year. The headline for this week 50 years ago comes from Monday, August 3rd, (1964).

My first thought was "Gulf of Tonkin?" I looked further and yep Gulf of Tonkin. Which was mentioned very briefly at the end of my 10th grade US History class. I really wish we'd gotten more on the '50's and '60's.

Where Do We Go from Here: Chaos or Community? in college, but he mainly mentioned Watts when talking about race riots in that 1967 book. I knew there were race riots in the mid-sixties, but I didn't know about Jersey City. It must have been really interesting to be alive in the Sixties.
