Weak sauce. From the Star-Ledger:
PARSIPPANY — Gov. Chris Christie today said he doesn't recall receiving a text message from a top aide in December as talk of the controversial lane closings at the George Washington Bridge intensified.
Regina Egea, whom the Republican governor has named his next chief of staff, testified last month before a state legislative committee that she texted Christie about testimony given by Port Authority officials concerning the lane closings but later deleted the message.
Christie, though, said he has no memory of that.
"I have no recollection of her ever sending me a text," he said today during a news conference outside the town hall in Parsippany. "So I can't remember what it was over."

This hard-to-swallow claim by the Governor goes to the heart of the alleged Bridgegate crimes and their ensuing cover-up. You see, Egea says she texted Christie right after Bill Baroni delivered his phony-baloney 'traffic study' explanation to a New Jersey state assembly panel. She texted Christie, she says, to let him know that Baroni and other Port Authority employees testified "in a very professional and even-handed way." In other words, these suckers just might buy this flimsy cover story.
If Christie was being given an immediate review of Baroni's cover-up performance, it surely suggests that he was in on it.
But he just can't recall! He also said that the fact he can't remember the text proves that it couldn't have been very important. Pathetic and laughable!
