You know all of those "don't tread on me" freedom-loving, god-fearing patriots who came to the aid of an abused and disgruntled cattle rancher in Nevada a few months ago? The ones who showed up with grit, guts, and guns to face down tyrannical law enforcement personnel? Yeah, those guys. When are they coming to Ferguson?
Or how about those upstanding American patriots from Open Carry Texas, who are ready to vigilantly defend (and brazenly display) the right to carry semi-automatic rifles into restaurants and department stores? Why aren't they exercising those rights today in Ferguson? Shouldn't they be reminding everyone (especially the police) that an armed society is a polite society? Wouldn't the situation there be much less volatile if only there were a bunch of people walking around with tactical firearms over their shoulders (along with the other bunch of people already pointing their tactical firearms at them)?
Isn't it their mission to defend against the tyranny of government and stand up for the citizens of their country? It seems like many of the folks in Ferguson aren't very comfortable seeing police walking around armed to the teeth. Maybe they'd feel a bit better if everyone else was equivalently equipped, so that such weaponry would become "normalized" until perceived as a source of comfort and security.
What about the NRA? I thought that for sure by now they'd be all over this, encouraging the citizens of Ferguson to exercise their 2nd Amendment rights. How about it, Wayne? Surely calm and safety would be restored if only all of those folks would bring guns with them into the streets instead of cardboard signs. Wouldn't they be the good guys with guns?
Calling all TEA Party patriots - the day is at hand! Here's that big bad government boot on the necks of American citizens that you've been warning us all about. SWAT teams, armored vehicles, helicopters - it looks like the real deal here. If you can't show up in Ferguson and at least try to do something to stop it, maybe you could appear in the media and demand that this government intrusion into the lives of American citizens stop immediately. Or you could at least point to the pictures in the news and say "we told you so!" a few times.
So, how about it, guys? Can we count on you?
Or is the boot not stepping on the "right" necks to justify your concern?
