Ferguson needs peace, love and understanding right now. On all sides.
These ideas need to be a big part of this moment - how can the people in Ferguson and others around the country get that message into the media, into the living rooms and hearts of America? How can this message be inserted into the evolving situation in Ferguson?
Make placards and signs with those words - peace, love and understanding.
If you are going to demonstrations - bring flowers, give them to the police. Bring them chocolate in heart shaped boxes. Make signs with the words, peace love and understanding.
Hug a police officer.
Turn the other cheek.
Martin Luther King would be proud to see his legacy honored in such a way.
There is a time for anger, resentment, bitterness but that is not now and those emotions can't be held onto tightly ... let it go.
There is a time for the mind to analyze facts and draw conclusions, there is a time for fists to defend, but now is not that time.
Now is the time for peace, love and understanding.
Something needs to be done to change the trajectory of anger, bitterness and violence and more of the same only increases this.
This moment calls for us to lead with our hearts ... this is not being naive.
The only way to change this dynamic is to create a totally new dynamic. To shatter what is going on in the streets in Ferguson - peace, love and understanding.
