This past Tuesday the Chicago Cubs beat the San Francisco Giants in a rain shortened game 2 to 0. However, the rain was not the reason for the called game. Evidently it was Obama's fault. That's right. According to the Huffington Post the game ended because of the Affordable Care Act (ACA).
The headline in HuffPo read "Cubs' Epic Tarp Fail Caused By Obamacare, Sources Say."
The Chicago Cubs crew had a difficult time placing the tarp on the field. Here is the YouTube video with the appropriate music added.
You would think that was the crazy part of the story, but it gets better. According to HuffPo writer Kim Bellware "The move was purportedly part of a massive reorganization that the Cubs enacted last winter designed to keep as many workers as possible under the hourly limit that would qualify them for employer-healthcare provided under the Affordable Care Act." This was first reported to the Chicago Sun-Times by unnamed sources. Moreover, an unnamed source from another team said the Cubs were "cheap."
Obama gets blamed for everything no matter how impossible it may be. Still, what's with all the unnamed sources? This isn't Watergate. It's a frigging baseball game.
In fact, the problem with Kim's article is she actually quoted named sources. The owners of the Cubs said the tarp mishap was a "freak thing" and had nothing to do with the ACA. This despite the fact the owners of the Cubs are noted ACA opponents.
This leads one to wonder, why wasn't the headline of the article something like, "Named sources say Tarp failure not related to ACA?" Could it be another crass attempt by HuffPo editors to sell a non-story. A charge that has been leveled at HuffPo before. Is there a difference between the editorial style of the Drudge Report and HuffPo?
