Work went this past week about as it did the week before. I have most of the dictations finished - but the most massive one still only about halfway through. The abstract disclosure system is giving an increasingly smaller group of our authors fits.
As you can see by Itzl's concerned look, this group is for us to check in at to let people know we are alive, doing OK, and not affected by such things as heat, blizzards, floods, wild fires, hurricanes, tornadoes, power outages, or other such things that could keep us off DKos. It's also so we can find other Kossacks nearby for in-person checks when other methods of communication fail - a buddy system. Members come here to check in. If you're not here, or anywhere else on DKos, and there are adverse conditions in your area (floods, heatwaves, hurricanes, etc.), we and your buddy are going to check up on you. If you are going to be away from your computer for a day or a week, let us know here. We care!
IAN is a great group to join, and a good place to learn to write diaries. Drop one of us a PM to be added to the Itzl Alert Network anytime! We all share the publishing duties, and we welcome everyone who reads IAN to write diaries for the group! Every member is an editor, so anyone can take a turn when they have something to say, photos and music to share, a cause to promote or news!
And my granddaughter has started in a soccer league. More below the orange decorative object.
The first of nine formal games was on Saturday. I have no idea what her team is called. They wear blue uniforms though, and everybody who was cheering them on was yelling for the "blues". My granddaughter was goalie for her team.
Yes, I went. I even watched the game.
My father fell in love with soccer while watching The Wide World of Sports when I was a kid. We even tried to play - when all we knew about it was you weren't supposed to touch the ball with your hands. Mostly I remember having fun and my baby brother's pointy-toed cowboy boots. That kid wouldn't hardly wear anything else on his feet and would kick anything that moved.
I'm not a big sports fan, but sufficiently interested to make an effort in this case.
The first practice was only a couple of weeks ago, so to say my granddaughter is only beginning to catch on to what she's supposed to do is to be exactly truthful. She didn't do too badly - though the other team made several goals.
My granddaughter got tangled up in the net a couple of times when she had to get the ball out of the goal so they could continue the game.
No, I wasn't close enough to see exactly what happened, but I did not dare laugh out loud. She would know the sound. So I stuffed my hand in my mouth and bit down: "I will not laugh. I will not laugh. I will not laugh." I did not laugh. I did not laugh. I did not laugh.
I admit, though, I had to stop writing this to laugh for a while.
I think they were up against a more experienced team. I'm pretty sure they won't lose every game.
