Pretty brutal:

The campaign for Texas Democratic gubernatorial candidate Wendy Davis released an incendiary ad on Monday accusing her Republican opponent, Texas Attorney General Greg Abbott, of ignoring allegations of abuse at a state run school in 2005.
“Young boys at a state run school are sexually abused,” the voice over says during the 30-second ad. After eleven months and a notification from a Texas ranger, the ad alleges, “Abbott does nothing.” In 2010, the West Texas State School, a juvenile detention center in Pyote, Texas, closed amid an abuse scandal that involved two former administrators at the center.
“What insider was Greg Abbott covering up for this time?” the ad asks. - Time Magazine, 9/15/14
Here's a little more info:

The 30-second spot is running in targeted areas and highlights an investigation of sexual abuse by Texas Youth Commission administrators at a West Texas center for teenage offenders.
The investigation, completed in 2005 by Texas Ranger Sgt. Brian Burzynski, had numerous witnesses and statements regarding the molestation and sexual abuse. Burzynski became frustrated when the local prosecutor showed little interest in his report and so he sent it to an assistant attorney general whom he knew, asking for help, before a statute of limitations ran out.
The Attorney General’s Office, saying it couldn’t help in prosecution unless it was requested by the local district attorney, did nothing with the report for 11 months.
It wasn’t until news broke about the Texas Ranger’s investigation that the AG secured a request from the local district attorney and assisted in the prosecution that led to the conviction of two administrators.

The ad already has Abbott on the defensive:

Abbott eventually helped with the prosecution of two top officials at the facility. More allegations surfaced in the following years, and the school closed in 2010.
The commercial is Davis’ fourth for the general election. Davis spokeswoman Rebecca Acuna said the ad is running in “targeted markets throughout the state.” It is expected to start airing Tuesday or Wednesday.
In a statement, Abbott spokesman Matt Hirsch tied the ad to a report detailing Davis’ years as a title company executive while on the Fort Worth City Council.
“Sen. Davis can distort the facts in her ads, but no amount of distortion can cover her despicable practice of repeatedly using public office to personally profit,” he said. - Houston Chronicle, 9/15/14
Davis has been getting brutal with her attacks and I like it. Polls are all over the place here but it's one race to keep your eyes on. Click here to donate and get involved with Davis' campaign:
