Yesterday, Navajo published a great Connect! Act! Unite! diary asking what we are doing as individuals to GOTV.
I thought about it all day and realized I am not doing nearly enough. Thankfully, her fantastic diary included a fantastic map with links to all local Kossack groups so my first step was obvious: I emailed my local group.
This morning, I also joined the NAACP both nationally and locally. In my state, North Carolina, you would be hard pressed to find an organization doing more to mobilize the local vote.
I then signed in with Democracy North Carolina and let them know that I am willing to help with any voter registration work happening in my area this week (the deadline is fast approaching!), with driving people to get IDs and to the polls and pretty much anything else they need volunteers to do.
I dug up my voter registration card and verified that everything is in order so that I have no nasty surprises on voting day.
I checked the calendar to see when early voting starts and where to go because I know people who are going to be out of town on November 4th.
I contacted the Unitarian church I grew up in (but haven't attended in almost 20 years what with living in South Africa and all) to see if they have anything happening that I can get involved in. It turns out that they do.
In the diary I wrote about this yesterday, some wonderful reports came in from GOTVing Kossacks across the country. I even learned that an incredibly energetic and very civic minded 10 year old will be updating us on her own efforts pretty soon :)
What are you doing to GOTV?
