CHRISTMAS.
Well, the commercials have begun. Stores are already bugling their offerings for the biggest shopping season of the year. "But it's not even HALLOWEEN yet!", you bleat. You are correct. Follow me below the doodle for more.

Yup, it's not just us crafters who start early on the Christmas themes. Today, I braved the rain and the Columbus Day (soon to be Indigenous Peoples Day all over, I hope) crowds to do a little shopping.
At Kohl's, I didn't see much, if anything, in the way of Christmas merchandise. There's plenty of fall decoration, some Halloween-specific things, and lots of lovely fall colors in the dishes and serveware. Otherwise, looked pretty normal. I got a nice cushiony pair of Dearfoams slippers for myself, paid my $6.56 plus coupon, and got out.
On I went to JoAnn Fabrics, where my intent was tinseled. All the yarn was 25% off for the holiday, and I have a couple of gifts to make for my nieces. Upon entering the store, I noticed that they had the smelly pine cones out. A further few steps, and I saw that all of the Halloween items were 50% off. Over to the yarn I went, dodging aisle-blocking displays and stacks of stock crates. Up and down the aisles of fluffy goodness I limped, until I found the two perfect yarns for the girls, and the price was most certainly right. I picked up a skein of yarn for me, and some extra needles, and I was ready to go.
Past the sparkly red and green Christmas yarn display. Past Christmas candles. Past Christmas cards and into the seemingly interminable checkout line, only to be faced with bins of gewgaws and several cartons of Christmas wrapping paper. Seems funny to see Santa this early in the year.
And there is The Game. It is the only seasonal game I play. You see, there is a certain song, about a certain small male percussionist. If I hear that song, I lose. Last year, I lost in Home Depot the week before Christmas. The year before, I lost in a local thrift store. This year, I aim to win. The Game begins on Black Friday, and ends Christmas night.
This year, I plan to win.

This comment made by Uncle Moji in the diary titled Scott Brown's frat buddies scream 'f*k Jeanne Shaheen' and call her a 'ct'. I felt it deserved to be a Top Comment b/c it was so eloquently righteous.
