Today actually turned out to be one of those days that doesn't come along often (or doesn't for me, at least). Slept in a bit, then cooked a package of thick-cut, CSA-derived bacon while Mr. Brillig made waffles. Did a bit of cleanup, then went to K2's soccer match while K1 had swim team friends over to prepare posters and signs for the Senior Meet next week. K2's team won with a last-second goal, a literal last second goal. He had a hand in three of their four, scoring one himself, another went in via the other team's player directly off of K2's corner kick, and he had an assist on the 3rd.
Came home and spent the afternoon listening to K1 and her friends while getting some much-needed time in Second Life to clean my virtual closets, so to speak. Had a delicious dinner of leftover salmon chowder while watching an episode of Dr. Who (we're only a few weeks behind!) with everyone.
So, how was your Saturday? Consider this an open thread.
Brillig's ObDisclaimer: The decision to publish each nomination lies with the evening's Diarist and/or Comment Formatter. My evenings at the helm, I try reeeeallllyy hard to publish everything without regard to content. I really do, even when I disagree personally with any given nomination. "TopCommentness" lies in the eyes of the nominator and of you, the reader - I leave the decision to you. I do not publish self-nominations (ie your own comments) and if I ruled the world, we'd all build community, supporting and uplifting instead of tearing our fellow Kossacks down.
From Yours Truly, brillig:
From David Harris Gershon's Since we have an Ebola Czar after one death, do we get a Police Brutality Czar (5,000 since '01)? comes Alice Olson's cogent look at what a Police Brutality Czar could do.
Bob Johnson's comment in Shaun King's Yes, it's true: Police only shot four people (and nobody died) in all of England the past two years was spot on. anastasia p's response was exactly what I'd have replied!
