22 states in 4 years. Laws demonstrably aimed at keeping the black, the brown, the young and the urban from being represented in Congress.
It's ugly. And it's effective.
But there's a way to stop it cold. And it can only come from the bully pulpit of the president.
Yes, this voter ID madness can be stopped in its tracks with one speech from Barack Obama.
"My fellow Americans, it's well known that I'm always interested in hearing solutions from Republicans, that I'm willing to adopt their ideas, even when they're unpopular in my own party or, all to often, just plain wrong.
"So I've decided that their approach to the ten cases of in-person voter fraud over the last decade--requiring a picture ID of all voters--is the way to go.
"Therefore, I am signing an Executive Order, named the Imperial Presidential Voter ID Order, immediately requiring all Americans to be issued a photo ID by the federal government, which may be used as a voter ID card in any state.
"Nothing is more precious and sacred than the vote, and we must protect it from those ten evildoers. God bless you and God bless America."
