Rachel Maddow just lost my respect tonight. Perhaps she will get is back, but I don't know if I will ever completely trust her again. She completely blew a story. She completely blew a story so she could kiss up to Chuck Todd. She completely blew a story so she could wail and cry with the beltway press about Ben Bradlee's dying. Most important she completely blew a story which may cost the Democrats the Senate. I feel she did it for careerist reasons. Please believe me when I say I loved watching Rachel Maddow. She was actually a hero of mine - and I don't have many heroes. Certainly not in the news media. What was the story Rachel Maddow blew (I don't even want to call her just Rachel anymore)? Tonight she reported that Kay Hagan did not show up for a debate. She wondered why, why, why, making Kay Hagan seem like she was making a selfish and foolish mistake. How could this happen? Rachel Maddow cried. She had on Chuck Todd who tsked tsked and Kay Hagan's foolishness, The undertones were that Kay Hagan was somehow a coward, blowing the election. In fact Kay Hagan did the only thing she could do, the only smart move. Kay Hagan had been completely ratfucked, but Rachel Maddow was too busy kissing up to the powers at MSNBC to report on it. The background to Hagan's decision that Maddow did not report one. Follow me below the squiggly line.
Today somebody e-mailed a mysterious flyer that supposedly was sent out by democrats show the picture of a lynching. It is an extraordinary picture. People are asking did a mysterious democratic group send this out. It is attributed to a local Black political organization with a single issue (a local school issue) that went defunct almost twenty years ago. That is all anybody has been able to find. The flyer was first sent to the Daily Caller. Of course it obviously was a ratfuck on its face, trying to use the Black vote for Hagan against Hagan. But what seals the deal is that it appeared the day of the debate. You know what any campaign operative knows. The Flyer will be brought up in the debate. Not only does this make the Flyer a statewide issue but it forces Hagan to say her campaign had nothing to do with that Flyer. In other words Hagan will be forced to say, "No, I am not a wife beater." It is a vicious political trick. Rachel Maddow should have provided context. She did not. She mocked Kay Hagan instead. It was as if Karl Rove had never been born. It was an awful performance by Rachel Maddow. She got to chat amiably with Chuck Todd.
Rachel Maddow you broke my heart.
