Ok, so this sums up the ridiculous GOP Hearing on Ebola ... or is it Eboli.
Republican evolution denier, Darrell Issa, who proved he is so out-of-touch with current events that he could not even pronounce Ebola and he did not even know what continent Ebola is an epidemic in. Kind of makes one wonder what Darrell Issa is doing on his taxpayer funded 52 day vacation.
ISSA: A nurse at this hospital infected with Eboli, fostered the development of Eboli -ah- treatments. In the West African natia -- nature -- nation of Guyana ... to serve as the Eboli czar ... A doctor in New York city tested positive for Eboli and this is particularly distressing.
"
distressing" ... I'll tell you what is distressing. It is distressing that the GOPers who most likely failed 2nd grade science waste our money holding crazy hearing on topics they know nothing about.
So, Darrell Issa proved, once again, that he is a self-serving partisan hack who operates from a dishonest partisan stance. #BENGHAZI ... #EBOLI
Next we have 11-term, 71 year old Republican John Mica who not only denies evolution but also gave us an example of his blatant misogyny when he screamed at Secretary Dr. Lurie for something she had zero to do with.
MICA (R-Fl) "Are you in charge of being prepared? OK, then I think you need to turn your resignation in!"
John Mica screamed, and I mean screamed, those words at Secretary Dr. Lurie while he was waving a report on Ebola preparedness. However, The report did
not concern Dr. Lurie's Agency, but rather efforts by the Department of Homeland Security.
So, Dr. Lurie is a female who was unnecessarily chastised by John Mica who does not believe in evolution or global warming ... and ... cannot differentiate between Health & Human Services and Dept. of Homeland Security.
As usual, all their nonsense has caused an unnecessary panic from those with the loudest voices. Which is why I have no idea why CNN even bothered to have science failure, Darrell Issa, on their show today -- especially since Issa thinks people are being infected with Eboli.
As a result of their screaming crazy stuff, New York and New Jersey have put a mandatory 21 day quarantine in effect for all medical professionals coming back from trying to stop Ebola in Africa.
Speaking of "distress" on nurse, Kaci Hickox, who recently came back from working with Ebola patients wrote about her distressing ordeal of being put in New Jersey's new mandatory 21 day quarantine.
NURSE HICKOX: “I am a nurse who has just returned to the U.S. after working with Doctors Without Borders in Sierra Leone - an Ebola-affected country. I have been quarantined in New Jersey. This is not a situation I would wish on anyone, and I am scared for those who will follow me.
I am scared about how health care workers will be treated at airports when they declare that they have been fighting Ebola in West Africa. I am scared that, like me, they will arrive and see a frenzy of disorganization, fear and, most frightening, quarantine."
Nurse Hickox did
not test positive for Ebola but that did not stop science failure Chris Christie from
not understanding was "not tested positive" means.
CHRISTIE: “I hope she recovers quickly, and we’re going to do everything we can in New Jersey and in our public health system to make sure that she does.”
In a telephone interview on Saturday night, Ms. Hickox’s father, Leon Hickox, told the New York Times that his daughter “is not ill in any way.”
So yeah, Christie ... umm ... and what is it you "hope she recovers quickly" from? Sheesh, science deniers.
Republicans, including but not limited to, Darrell Issa, Pete King, John Mica etc are intentionally stirring partisan confusion which is giving rise to calls for mandatory quarantine which will only discourage medical professionals from going to Africa to actually stop the spread of Ebola and that is reckless and we should demand it be unacceptable!
These Republicans don't have the balls to even pick up a science book to learn let alone have the balls to go to Africa to help stop the spread of Ebola. Instead actions by Republicans is to demonize medical professionals who are helping stop the spread of Ebola.
NURSE HICKOX I had spent a month watching children die, alone. I had witnessed human tragedy unfold before my eyes. I had tried to help when much of the world has looked on and done nothing.
Not only are Republicans doing absolutely nothing to help stop the spread of Ebola in Africa, actions by Republicans will actually increase the spread of Ebola in Africa as their actions will discourage professionals from stopping the spread of Ebola in Africa.
NURSE HICKOX: We need more health care workers to help fight the epidemic in West Africa. The U.S. must treat returning health care workers with dignity and humanity.
Yup, leave it to Republicans to actually discourage professionals from stopping the spread of Ebola in Africa (SMFH).
