A 'Free Pass' from the Free Press ...
Why Is Joni Ernst Missing Newspaper Endorsement Interviews, and Why Are Democrats So Happy About It?
Bruce Braley's hopes in Iowa are buoyed as the GOP's narrow frontrunner dodges the press.

Nothing seemed to stick to Ernst, not even her primary-period indulgence in theories of nullification or of UN domination of American urban planning. "How does this GOP Senate candidate keep getting away with such terrible gaffes?" asked Mother Jones's Tim Murphy last month. Media Matters's Eric Boehlert lacerated the press for writing endlessly about Braley's dispute with a neighbor whose chickens kept ambling onto his law, a story mythologized by TV ads that portrayed Braley literally waving a lawsuit at farmers. (This did not happen.)

Joni Ernst dodges newspaper editorial meetings after controversial gun comments
"She has also begged off meetings with The Cedar Rapids Gazette and The Dubuque Telegraph-Herald."
by Matt Bradwell, upi.com -- Oct. 23, 2014
DES MOINES, Iowa, Oct. 23 (UPI) -- Republican Senate nominee Joni Ernst canceled a meeting with the editorial board of the Des Moines Register Thursday morning, at least her fourth blackout of a media outlet in the course of her Iowa campaign.
The latest refusal comes a day after audio surfaced of Ernst threatening to use her 9 millimeter Smith & Wesson on "the government, should they decide that my rights are no longer important."
[...]
No wonder she doesn't want to talk to press; and with 'armed and dangerous' statements like that -- Maybe, it's "the Press"
that's doing the cancelling?
Despite her desperate attempt to avoid harsh questions from the Media -- like what did you mean? did you really say that? -- despite the dodging, Joni Ernst does have a "record" that discloses where she stands ...
(Here's a Hint: It's often way outside the lines ...)

Here are a few examples of Ernst's out-there statements:
* Ernst has alleged that the federal government is partnering with the United Nations to force Iowans off their land and into urban cores as part of a conspiracy called Agenda 21.
[...]
* At a candidate forum in January, she said that President Obama has "become a dictator" and should be impeached.
* Meeting with business leaders in late August, she complained about the existence of federal minimum wage.
[...]
* She told the Iowa Faith and Freedom Coalition last September that federal laws can be nullified by states
[...]
* She said at a GOP primary debate in May that abortion providers "should be punished" and zygotes should be granted full constitutional protection if the state passed a "personhood" amendment—and in 2013, sponsored a bill in the state Senate to make that possible.

It seems Joni might have more than a few issues with women voters too.

[Ernst:]
"I am someone who supports a woman's right to birth control, absolutely, so to say that is absolutely false and misleading," she said. "So, if women would like to talk to me about those items, I am happy to talk it over. Birth control yes, and promoting a culture of life, yes."

Iowa's Bruce Braley, Joni Ernst Duel Over Abortion
by Thomas Beaumont, AP; huffingtonpost.com -- 10/17/2014
SIOUX CITY, Iowa (AP) — Republican candidate Joni Ernst defended her opposition to abortion rights during Thursday's final debate between her and Iowa Democrat Bruce Braley in their neck-and-neck race for a U.S. Senate seat, but she said for the first time that she might support a legal exception to save the life of the mother.
[...]
Braley also argued that Ernst's support for contraception was inconsistent with her support for the recent U.S. Supreme Court decision that said employers could choose on grounds of religious belief not to comply with part of the health care law that requires contraception coverage.
"You can't say you support that right and then say it's OK for employers to interfere with it," Braley said.

Joni Ernst Campaign Makes Statement on Burwell v Hobby Lobby Case
... UNLESS it interferes with a Corporation's Religious Right -- to take it away!
You see Joni "supports" women having access to Birth Control -- just not as a part of any Employer-scrutinized Health Insurance Plan.
No wonder, she doesn't want to talk the Media. Because with positions like that, she would be Toast ... if she ever did.
