On Wednesday afternoon, President Obama revealed his plans to take executive action on immigration. He posted a short embedded Facebook video outlining the problem and encouraged people to watch his upcoming immigration speech scheduled for Thursday. The video, lasting less than a minute, is posted on his official
Barack Obama Facebook page and on the official
White House Facebook page. You can visit either Facebook page to view/hear the short video. So far, there are over 2 million views.
Here is the text from the video:
Hi Everybody,
Tomorrow night I'm going to be announcing, here from the White House, some steps that I can take to start fixing our broken immigration system. And then on Friday, I'm going to be traveling to Del Sol High School, in Las Vegas, where two years ago, I laid out the principals for comprehensive immigration reform.
Everybody agrees that our immigration system is broken. Unfortunately, Washington has allowed the problem to fester for too long. And so what I'm going to be laying out, are the things I can do with my lawful authority as President, to make the system work better; even as I continue to work with Congress and encourage them to get a bi-partisan comprehensive bill that can solve the entire problem.
So, tune in tomorrow night at 8:00, here from the White House, where I'm going to be making this announcement. And then, Del Sol High School, I will see you on Friday.
Thank you, Everybody.

It's time to fix our broken immigration system. Tomorrow night, President Obama will address the nation on new commonsense steps he's taking to fix as much of it as he can. Tune in tomorrow at 8pm ET on http://WhiteHouse.gov/... #ImmigrationAction
Of course, the GOP, FOX, and John Boehner crowd went wild.
Boehner's response, via his aide, referred to the President as, 'Emperor Obama.'
"If ‘Emperor Obama’ ignores the American people and announces an amnesty plan that he himself has said over and over again exceeds his constitutional authority, he will cement his legacy of lawlessness and ruin the chances for congressional action on this issue – and many others," Boehner spokesman Michael Steel said in a statement emailed to reporters.
This will surely infuse the sheep, and we can almost bet, 'Emperor Obama' will become the new GOP buzzword. By the way, the
last five presidents have used their executive power on the issue of immigration. So much for
Mitch McConnell's post election promise to tear down the walls of government gridlock.
Here's to the President's success.
