Although this was written as part of a weekly newspaper column many years ago by
incoming Nevada House Speaker Ira Hansen and only recently uncovered by the Reno News & Review - it's still
quite shocking.
The Democratic coalition would split asunder if the NAACP & co. actually promoted what black Americans truly desire—educational choice. The shrewd and calculating [black] ’leaders’ are willing to sacrifice the children of their own race to gratify their lust for power and position. The relationship of Negroes and Democrats is truly a master-slave relationship, with the benevolent master knowing what’s best for his simple minded darkies. For American blacks, being denied choice and forced to attend the failing and inferior government school system is a form of involuntary servitude. Let’s call it what it truly is—educational slavery.
The funny thing about this is that I will bet dollars and donuts that this guy doesn't think what he's saying is "Racist" in the least.
Nope.
I'll bet what he's doing is really exposing the "truth" that the real racists - are the Democrats who are just trying to keep the Black man under their thumb, if only those dumb simple-minded darkies were smart enough to realize it.
See, this guy is "No Devil" he's just like saying the same thing that a lot of Conservatives believe. People like former Rep. Alan West.
Republican Rep. Allen West, describing himself as a "modern-day Harriet Tubman," said Wednesday he wants to lead black voters on an underground railroad away from the Democratic Party.
"You have this 21st-century plantation that has been out there. Where the Democrat Party has forever taken the black vote for granted and you have established certain black leaders who are nothing more than the overseers of that plantation. And now the people on that plantation are upset because they've been disregarded, disrespected and their concerns are not cared about," West said.
"So I'm here as the modern-day Harriet Tubman to kind of lead people on the underground railroad away from that plantation into a sense of sensibility."
We've also heard the same rhetoric from sources such as Cliven Bundy as he bemoaned the sad sorry state of "
The Negro".
“And because they were basically on government subsidy, so now what do they do?” he asked. “They abort their young children, they put their young men in jail, because they never learned how to pick cotton. And I’ve often wondered, are they better off as slaves, picking cotton and having a family life and doing things, or are they better off under government subsidy? They didn’t get no more freedom. They got less freedom.”
And Duck Dynasty's Phil Robertson...
"I never, with my eyes, saw the mistreatment of any black person," Robertson claims. "Not once. Where we lived was all farmers. The blacks worked for the farmers. I hoed cotten with them. I'm with the blacks, because we're white trash."
He adds, "They're singing and happy. I never heard one of them, one black person, say, 'I tell you what: These doggone white people'—not a word!... Pre-entitlement, pre-welfare, you say: Were they happy? They were godly; they were happy; no one was singing the blues."
Yeah, because Entitlements are bad m'kay? But let's not take them away from Oil Companies. Or Banks.
Here's more on that line of thinking via Kevin Williamson at the National Review.
The conservative plantation theory holds that African Americans support the Democratic party in exchange for welfare benefits and other handouts, that the Democratic party cultivates black welfare dependency in order to keep black voters firmly in their camp, and that the liberal establishment through either incompetence or cynical calculation frustrates the aspirations of black Americans in critical areas such as education, family life, crime, and economic mobility. That is a mostly accurate assessment of the Democratic party’s side of the relationship — Lyndon Johnson’s crudely expressed machinations have indeed come to pass — but not of black voters’ attitudes.
Except that in reality, this simply isn't the case.
If Democrats were buying votes with welfare benefits, one would expect support for the Democratic party to be less pronounced among high-income blacks and more pronounced among low-income whites. The opposite is the case. Wealthy African Americans, who have no financial stake in welfare benefits other than being taxed to pay for them, are politically very similar to less wealthy African Americans. By some measures, wealthy blacks are more liberal than poor blacks.
Which is not to say that black voters are not keenly interested in the welfare state, economic intervention, redistributive taxation, and the rest of the Democrats’ dependency agenda. They are. As I have shown at some length, it was the New Deal rather than the Democrats’ abrupt about-face on civil rights that attracted black voters. The last Republican presidential candidate to win a majority of the black vote was Herbert Hoover, and the majority of black voters were Democrats by the 1940s — a remarkable fact, given that the Democrats were still very much the party of segregation at that time, with future civil-rights enthusiast Lyndon Johnson fighting laws against lynching. African Americans remain more intensely supportive of New Deal programs such as Social Security and the minimum wage than are whites, even when their personal financial situations ensure that they are unlikely ever to earn the minimum wage or depend upon Social Security.
It is a long held Conservative Myth that the reason Democrats hold on to 90% of the Black Vote is somehow Democrats have cast some type of
spell on them. They hold them in some type of thrall. If only Conservatives could just
wake them up.
For example today you had Rand Paul claim that he's the Biggest Supporter of Minority Rights in Congress right now, never mind Rep. John Lewis or Rep. John Conyers.
And this is something he said after he had previously supported continued use of Voter ID laws and the gutting of the Voting Rights Act.
"The interesting thing about voting patterns now is in this last election African-Americans voted at a higher percentage than whites in almost every one of the states that were under the special provisions of the federal government," Paul said Wednesday according toWFPL's Phillip Bailey. "So really, I don't think there is objective evidence that we're precluding African-Americans from voting any longer."
The fact that African-Americans also
vastly outnumber whites in many of those states seem to slip past unnoticed by Paul. Also the fact the types of measures which formerly needed pre-approval by the Department of Justice in States that have a history of discrimination, such as Voter ID, tend to depress turnout among Black and young voters which of course since they tend to vote Democratic,
is the point.
The report, issued Wednesday by the General Accounting Office [pdf], found that fewer African Americans have the types of identification — like a driver’s license or state-issued identification card — required to obtain a ballot than whites. As a consequence, turnout among African American voters fell by a larger percent than turnout among white voters in two states that implemented identification requirements between 2008 and 2012.
Black turnout dropped by 3.7 percentage points more than white turnout in Kansas, and by 1.5 percentage points more than whites in Tennessee after voter ID laws passed. Among 18 year olds, turnout dropped by 7.1 percentage points more in Kansas than it did among those aged 44 to 53 year-olds in Kansas. Turnout in Tennessee fell by 1.2 percentage points more among those aged 19 to 23 than among the older set.
When members of the GOP try to "reach out" to Black Voters by saying that Democrats are leading them on, patronizing them, keeping them on a "plantation", it's the fact that it has overwhelming been Conservatives who've repeatedly tried to block them
from being able to Vote At All that tends have more weight.
So when we listen people like Rep Hansen, we should be shocked. We should be outraged. But then again, for anyone whose been listening to the GOP and Conservatives for any amount of time, that state of shock has pretty much become permanent.
Also Hansen had a lot more to say about Hispanics.
Locally, gangs and their associated criminal activity are obviously dominated by immigrants, especially Hispanic immigrants. You cannot read a story about criminals or watch a news report locally without noticing a grossly disproportionate amount of Hispanic involvement.
And Women:
Today, when Army men look at women in the ranks with ’longing in their eyes’ it very well may constitute ’sexual harassment.’ The truth is, women do not belong in the Army or Navy or Marine Corps, except in certain limited fields.
And LGBT people:
Considering only about 2 percent of adult males are homosexuals, the numbers show why homosexuals have been historically regarded as such a threat. Male homosexuals are grossly disproportionate in child molestation cases, and the youth orientation of male homosexuality drives this trend.”
Yet, one fact of homosexuality deliberately downplayed is the grossly disproportionate numbers of child molesters, called ’pederasts,’ which fill their ranks. In fact, they are called, in the homosexual vernacular, ’chicken hawks.’ Many of these pederasts are not the least bit ashamed of their vile behavior and have adopted the militancy now so common with their fellow homosexuals.
So yeah, this guy is a real sweetheart. He fits right in with Republicans perfectly. Nice job Nevada, picked another winner ya did.
