The so-called War on Christmas has taken convoluted turns this year, as Satanists spread holiday cheer and Christians themselves begin to increasingly air suspicions that the Pagan origins of "Christmas" pageantry insidiously serve to corrupt the anti-fun faithful.
Enter Steve Carlson, a self-identified Christian and supporter of The Satanic Temple who recently released this holiday video, titled A Hell of A Time in an effort to, perhaps, give voice to his disillusionment and religious conflict (I asked Steve what the meaning of it all is in an email, and he replied: "If we all spent as much time, energy and money making the world a better place as we did celebrating Christmas, we'd have that better world and something to truly celebrate. That about sums it up."). The video is worth hearing, seeing, and sharing.
This holiday season, it's important to remember that behind the bluster and idiotic superstitious fury of our Michelle Bachmanns and Pat Robertsons, there are the occasional Christians like Steve Carlson -- progressive, thoughtful individuals... who simply haven't embraced their natural Satanic tendencies (fully) yet.
