The reaction of the cabal of RW media, NYPD PBA head Pat Lynch (this guy is one of the most beastly, arrogant, reckless, gestapo-like goons I think I've ever heard) and their loyal henchmen on social media to the unfortunate killing of two cops in NYC has been nauseating to witness these past few days. Even DeBlasio was overcome by pressure it seemed, by everyone from his own Governor to the NYPD brass to the inflammatory remarks by Giuliani, Kerick, Pataki, who all repeated in typical Frank Luntz lockstep like good little schoolboys, that he had "blood on his hands." This is a Mayor who won about 75% of the vote, on platforms that included police reform and going after Wall St. 50k residents of Gotham marched two weeks ago as pure proof positive that people are engaged and impassioned about the issue of #policebrutality. In other words, we've got your back Mr. Mayor. But you've got to have ours too. Coming out and saying maybe the protesters should give it a rest for a little while was cowing to the RW authoritarian two-faced notion that when things happen to us, everything must stop. There's some psychology in there waiting to be explored (don't have the time to expound on that, or much here now). We know you're in a tough spot, but the time is now to stand for what's right. So tonight I couldn't be more proud of the noble and dignified protesters who are heeding the call right now to #ShutDown5thAve. All of whom chose not to accept the BS accusations being spewed by the RW and lazy corporate media that somehow the protests, which as a massive uprising of all creeds, ages, classes and colors underway across the nation about to achieve critical mass, can be conflated to the murder of the policemen. Truth is the ruling elite are again petrified that this will sustain and manifest into something bigger and broader, bringing in class issues and the death of democracy on the US. That solidarity, underway now, is forging a union amongst the oppressed people of the 99%, and is what we've all hoped for in these past three year After Occupy. It's happening. And it's so imperative, crucial that it maintains its energy. My heartfelt gratitude to every single New Yorker who is out on the streets tonight.

As an addendum I offer a few articles that point to the importance of this protest movement at this moment, as well as some of what's driving it, contrary to the narrow, misleading parameters of protesters vs. police the msm media is peddling this week. There were good pieces (thanks Joe Shikspack) in Vice, The Intercept, The Guardian, The Real News, etc at the following links:
