Yahoo news/AP published 58 minutes ago that on Sunday night 2 men open fired on a LAPD cruiser. This report comes on the back of 2 NYC policemen who were killed just a few days ago. It is believed that neither of the 2 LAPD officers in the shooting were injured. Reports state that one suspect is believed to be in custody and another suspect is believed to be still at large. This is an ongoing investigation and it's not clear how this case will turn out.

In the wake of the killing of 2 NYC police officers the fear of alleged copycats was clearly articulated and it now seems that in the matter of 2 LAPD officers being shot at maybe a possible copycat reported incident. It is impossible to know if this will spawn a trend of new copycat crimes or not as reported by the press as set out in the quote down below.
