All the troubles I've had lately have been minor irritations. For instance, I was on the bus to work on Thursday when I figured out that the reason my pants weren't staying up as far as usual was that the elastic had split. Fortunately, I had safety pins as work, and I do hand sewing very well indeed - the fix took about 10 minutes when I got home that evening.
As you can see by Itzl's concerned look, this group is for us to check in at to let people know we are alive, doing OK, and not affected by such things as heat, blizzards, floods, wild fires, hurricanes, tornadoes, power outages, or other such things that could keep us off DKos. It's also so we can find other Kossacks nearby for in-person checks when other methods of communication fail - a buddy system. Members come here to check in. If you're not here, or anywhere else on DKos, and there are adverse conditions in your area (floods, heatwaves, hurricanes, etc.), we and your buddy are going to check up on you. If you are going to be away from your computer for a day or a week, let us know here. We care!
IAN is a great group to join, and a good place to learn to write diaries. Drop one of us a PM to be added to the Itzl Alert Network anytime! We all share the publishing duties, and we welcome everyone who reads IAN to write diaries for the group! Every member is an editor, so anyone can take a turn when they have something to say, photos and music to share, a cause to promote or news!
The Chinese lady who works in the lab just got home from a visit to attend her younger brother's wedding. Her family lives in Shanghai and the wedding was in Bali. She told me she got very tired of the matchmaking efforts and the mosquitoes.
My daughter is just about spitting nails over the way her ex is behaving. Justifiably, but it's not my story to tell - I can only hope he figures out she's not exaggerating before he gets them both in trouble.
My daughter is also trying to figure out a way we could buy a house together. I would certainly agree to one that had a mother-in-law apartment - I would need my own space, but I have no difficulty with the idea of sharing anything else with her.
This is a three-paycheck month for me. I just got the second. I wanted some stuff from Trader Joe's (after doing most of my shopping at WinCo Foods), and decided to try their gluten-free ginger snaps, since they caught my eye as I was rounding a corner to go down the aisle I was looking for. They bite back.
My chiropractor told me that if the things I'm already doing don't clear up the edema entirely fairly soon, I should get a doctor to check it out. She says I'm right that it's kind of weird for being mostly on the left side. And I say my annual checkup is due soon enough that I have to make the appointment next week anyway.
I got home yesterday, a little after noon, and upon checking my email, found one telling me that my buddy downbuilding has a new job. He didn't freak out during the interview process when shown a cremation, nor at the smell where he will have to deliver the bodies, so he has been hired to pick up bodies for a mortuary. The union appeals process to try to get him back the job he had is ongoing, so the mortuary may not be long-term, but still ....
My major ambition for this three-day weekend is to get a couple of naps in.
