In December, Immigration and Custom Enforcement (ICE) in the Department of Homeland Security opened a new FAMILY DETENTION CENTER in Dilley, TX.
The new facility will hold up to 2,400 persons. The facility will be operated by the Corrections Corporation of America (CCA). The daily payment per "resident" will be just a touch below $300.
Let's assume fill occupancy. Okay 2,400, people at $300 a days means $720,000 per day for 365 days. That brings it to $262,800,000 per year in payments to CCA. Even if it has an occupancy of 50%, that mean a paltry $131,400,000 per year in payments.
Those of us with some memory will remember CCA ran the Hutto Family Detention Center in Taylor, TX. which was sued by the ACLU for the prison-like conditions at Hutto. Oh, also, a CCA supervisor sexually abused women in the "prison."

AMERICA, LAND OF OPPORTUNITY. DHS, A BIG TROUGH WITH PLENTY OF ROOM FOR SOME DIRTY CORPORATE FRONT PAWS.
We have to applaud the President's stand on Dreamers and their parents. But, we also need to remember his abysmal record in dealing with those fleeing the deadly chaos in portions of Central America.
