Yeesh - this is a hard diary for me to post, as I am a huge Olbermann fan. It's only for a week, so the news isn't too terrible. From The Washington Post:
ESPN has suspended Keith Olbermann for the rest of the week from his “Olbermann” show because of a series of tweets about Penn State University on Monday night.
“We are aware of the exchange Keith Olbermann had on Twitter last night regarding Penn State,” ESPN said in a statement. “It was completely inappropriate and does not reflect the views of ESPN. We have discussed it with Keith, who recognizes he was wrong. ESPN and Keith have agreed that he will not host his show for the remainder of this week and will return on Monday. The annual tradition of THON and the efforts of the students of Penn State to fight pediatric cancer should be applauded.”
In the Twitter exchanges, Olbermann, who has been highly critical of the university after the Jerry Sandusky child sex-abuse scandal, misinterpreted a tweet that said “We Are!” and linked to a story about students’ fundraising efforts. He went on to writers’ grammar and spelling, calling one a “moron,” several “pitiful” and questioning the quality of a Penn State education.

Some of the objectionable tweets after the jump...
Keith tweeted in response to a Penn State alumnus:
.@dave_seidel Again - get your $ back - you didn't learn how to read. PSU students are pitiful because they're PSU students - period.
6:40 PM - 23 Feb 2015
His response to another alum, who, as you can see, misspelled "you're":
More PSU education. My trash what? RT @COLTS_R_BETTER @KeithOlbermann your trash
7:59 PM - 23 Feb 2015
Keith later tweeted this apology:
I apologize for the PSU tweets. I was stupid and childish and way less mature than the students there who did such a great fundraising job.
As a fan, I am completely satisfied with the apology, and look forward to seeing Keith back at his desk next week. But how strange is the timing of all this? Just as his one-time arch-rival, Bill O'Reilly (whose transgressions are far, far worse) is on the verge of total career implosion.
