Haven't seen this on DKos yet, but it is the best thing since sliced bread. While up in a forum in New Hampshire, Lindsey Graham made this statement with regard to the US Defense and Intelligence budgets:
And here's the first thing I would do if I were president of the United States. I wouldn't let Congress leave town until we fix this. I would literally use the military to keep them in if I had to. We're not leaving town until we restore these defense cuts. We are not leaving town until we restore the intel cuts.
Yup, you read that right. He isn't going to use the military to force attendance at the Congress. He plans on using them to force his will on them. Vox refers to this as a self-coup, an appellation I wholeheartedly concur in.
Obviously, this presents some problems for the Senator's campaign, as he apparently is not running for President but, rather, for dictator (eat your heart out, Dubya).
Well, cooler heads prevailed, I guess, when the Senator's people began to grasp the meaning of what he had said. From the Vox piece:
Update: Graham's spokesperson has clarified to Bloomberg that when Graham said "I would literally use the military to keep them in if I had to," that statement was "not to be taken literally." Glad that's been cleared up.
So, according to Graham, "literally" literally does NOT mean literally. That is MUCH better than "that depends on what the meaning of "is" is". Kudos, Senator Graham. You have outdone the man you tried to convict on impeachment charges!
