The 47 Traitors who wrote the letter to the Iranian Government undercutting their own country, were not mistaken, or ill advised, as some have said. If you look at who owns these Senators, who pays them; the letter makes sense. The Republican Party, (at least 47 out of 52 Senators), are in the pay of corporations, now more than ever, since Citizen's United. And these corporations are not tied to American interests. They are increasingly multi-national, with regard only for their profits and stock value. So why wouldn't these corporations favor a war with Iran if such a war would boost their profits?
For many corporations, peace with Iran would be bad for business. Certainly Haliburton and the military industrial companies are against a peace deal with Iran. And what about the big multinational energy companies? Wouldn't British Petroleum like to get back in business in Iran? Wouldn't they love to see another Shah in power, handing out lucrative energy contracts to Western companies? These are the biggest donors to the Republican Party. These are the paymasters who provide the vast sums needed to defend a Senate seat.
As the patriot Robert Reich has pointed out; American Corporations, which are really multi-national, do not represent the best interests of the American people. As corporate influence grows, anti-American stunts like The Letter from the 47 Traitors will become more common. Want to know why they did it? Follow the money.
