Rachel Maddow and her team make an underreported observation about warmongering in this country. Destabilizing of the Middle East, and who is doing it
Rachel Maddow reports on U.S. progress in the war against ISIS and al Qaeda, the precarious situation in Yemen, and the fact that Congress remains unresponsive on the use of force against ISIS but has found its voice to threaten the nuclear deal with Iran

Rachel Maddow and team give a brief rundown on the many difficult ongoing situations in the Middle East and other regions including President Obama's requests for congress to weigh in on new war powers to combat ISIS.
Troubles in Somalia, Northern Kenya, Yemen where U.S. personnel and Special Forces and been withdrawn, and many people remain stranded. Reuters reports a first drone strike:
It was the first reported drone strike against the powerful Yemeni branch of the global militant group since the United States evacuated about 100 special forces troops advising Yemeni forces last month.
The US remains engaged in Iraq as more recently conditions in Mosul heat up with airstrikes underway.
There is a lot happening, but where is congress?
The President has repeatedly requested that congress weigh in, yet when House majority leader Kevin McCarthy was asked what Bills would come up for a vote this week:
McCarthy also said he intended to bring up three measures Republicans pulled from the floor earlier this Congress: a bill banning most abortions after 20 weeks of pregnancy, a border security bill that was pulled amid immigration concerns..
When it comes to the
AUMF: (note: Not being the point of this Diary, I'm offering no opinion on the AUMF itself, just as an example of republican war-mongering "priorities"; cowardice when it comes to taking a stand; and dishonesty of their manifold accusations of Obama as an "Imperial Dictator")
“I do not think there is 218 votes for what the president sent up,” McCarthy said.
..it won't even reach the floor.
So the republicans who currently hold majorities in both chambers of congress can't seem to muster up much interest in the numerous wars we are already engaged in except to express disapproval that the US isn't escalating war-making in most every situation. Yet when it comes to the Iran deal. A Deal that could make unprecedented forward progress towards nuclear weapons non-proliferation in the region?
That must be stopped.
Nevertheless, despite neo-con poison pills, obstruction and a series of "boobie traps" designed to scuttle any deal that would lessen the chances of war, it looks as though for all their efforts, the neo-cons have so far failed, as has much of the MSM's lopsided coverage, (which mirrored the neo-cons sudden damned near exclusive fascination for failure of the Iran nuclear weapons non-proliferation deal, while under-reporting the many other ongoing wars), in reporting otherwise.
Paul Pillar @ consortium news nailed it here (March 24, 2015):
Fearing an Iran-Nuke Deal Might Work (pdf) Republicans, carrying water for Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu, have come up with a new scheme to kill a deal to constrain but not obliterate Iran’s nuclear program.
The new goal seems to be to prevent the agreement from demonstrating that it can work
So writing this down is not really anything that is new and that hasn't had excellent coverage here @ Daily Kos, but - imo - can't be said enough.
Even the so-called liberal leaning NYT's had a gung-ho style of reporting after 9/11, and the lead up to invading Iraq.
Now that overtures have been made to wind down war, my fear is that, after watching this latest lopsided fascination with and misreporting of the Iran deal, we're once again at that point when way too many MIC corporate "Interests" including our corporate MSM will once again begin the subtle shift in focus that obscures the exact point in time and the shift itself from one of peace making, to an agenda requiring another war effort.
Though Americans are against U.S. military intervention in Syria, there is deep division on the Deal with Iran.
We're already seeing in polls that people have become less adamant against further U.S. military intervention. Much of that can be attributed to reaction against the ISIS own horrifying campaign and the distribution of videos recording their atrocities, but not all. Along with the "conservative" neo-cons, our own American MSM has also been no less trigger-happy when it comes to sounding its many alarms.
