She truly would. And I think you would enjoy meeting her. She's great, but then she is Cedwyn's Mom. Of course she is!
I don't think most of us understand how much all of your loving support meant to Cedwyn, her family, and friends all over the world. Being able to meet you face to face - to speak with you over the phone or exchange emails, to thank you, to get to know the people Cedwyn spoke of so fondly - means more than you know.
That's why Cedwyn's Mom sent me another message yesterday. It is one of several in which she has expressed her deep affection and thankfulness for all of you who cared for Cedwyn. That is movingly expressed in her words - Please share this with all of her friends - thank you'all for loving her.
She really wants to meet you and wants you to know that. Here is her message to you -
Hello,
To clear up the confusion about Cedwyn's celebration - when the idea first came up everyone said Memorial Day weekend and all of us, myself included, thought it was on May 29. Memorial Day weekend is usually the last weekend in May. Someone had a reality check and we realized that the actual Memorial Day weekend is on May 23-24, and everyone has Monday off. As you know when you schedule an event like this there is no way to plan so that everyone can attend.
For those that purchased airline tickets early, I do apologize; however I do know you can use those tickets for a certain amount of time, but usually with penalties and fees. I have had to pay some of those as well with all my visits to Cedwyn during her last weeks. The airlines show no mercy for a family death or any other reason. That is the airline business.
So, you can hold on to the ticket........ OR.......
.....come to Portland anyway, meet together and celebrate Cedwyn - call me and we can have a conference call visit. Portland is beautiful and has great coffee and beer - 2 of the major food groups - the others being chocolate and gravy. !!!!!!!!
However and whenever you can celebrate Cedwyn please do so; wear purple, paisley, any manner of hippie dippie wear - put butterflies in your hair - drink lots of very strong coffee or beer - or other indulgence of your choice, play record albums on your turntables - I love vinyl and have quite a collection of old rock and roll vinyl.
Years ago Cedwyn attended a blogging conference here in Austin. If anyone gets to Austin, call me and we can have all kinds of fun here - we have music, vintage stores, vinyards, craft beer breweries, Barton Springs swimming, comedy clubs, etc. We have great BBQ, Tex Mex, and of course chicken fried anything with lots of gravy. Down here gravy is a side dish !!! Chuy's restaurant has an Elvis platter that would feed a whole table of people.
I welcome all of Cedwyn's friends - I keep wanting to refer to her as Terry - she is both Terry and Cedwyn.
Please contact me if you wish
Love to All :)
The confusion is over. Now it is time to come together to celebrate an extraordinary life. Cedwyn's friends and her Mom want to meet you. I have Cedwyn's Mom's contact information. If you would like to call or email her, please let me know. She would be delighted to hear from you. And if you can make it to Portland, Oregon to celebrate Cedwyn's life on Saturday,
May 23rd, be prepared for lots of hugs, smiles, and thankfulness that you are there.
The celebration of Cedwyn's life is being held at Mt. Tabor Park, Portland, Oregon, beginning at one pm. People will be gathering at The Crest, West Side, Mt. Tabor Park on the west facing slope to the left of the restrooms.
Take a look at the link for Mt. Tabor Park. Read what people have to say about the park. It will give you a sense of how beautiful it is and how perfect for a celebration of Cedwyn's life. I can just see her smiling and laughing, delighted that her family and friends are finally coming together in a place she loved so well. Lets make it so, shall we?
For those of us who can not go to Portland, Oregon on May 23rd, there will be a virtual celebration of her life here the following weekend.
I'd love to have it on the 23rd but know many of you have other plans for the holiday weekend.
Please let me know what day of the weekend of the 30th works best. It wouldn't be a celebration without you.
Blessings to all of you, always.
