San Bernardino County Sheriff's deputies were caught by a camera on a news helicopter
severely beating Francis Jared Pusok after he ran from police on a stolen horse.
The video of the beating went viral and San Bernardino County must be in a hurry to close the case, because they announced that only three weeks later, they've come to a financial settlement in the case:
The man beaten by sheriff's deputies during his arrest on live chopper video, capping a pursuit on horseback through the high desert northeast of Los Angeles, has settled with San Bernardino County for $650,000.
County officials said in a statement they came to that agreement with Francis Jared Pusok over his April 9 arrest "in order to avoid litigation expenses."
One of the terms of the settlement is the county does not have to admit wrongdoing. In an interview with NBC4 (which can be seen
here), Pusok said one of the deputies offered in a chilling warning:
Afterward, he said one of the deputies who beat him walked up and whispered in his ear, "This isn't over."
A federal civil rights investigation is still ongoing.
