Another article on the same subject noted that Albuterol tablets have gone from $11 to over $400...
...Albuterol is the rescue-med-of-choice for most asthmatics...and is old as dirt...nor can it POSSIBLY cost that much more to produce-it's an adrenaline analog.
...The cost of a course of doxycycline -for humans- is running upwards of a thousand dollars...funny, I can get a course of doxy for birds for about $ 70, same dosage.
...Those of you who don't take meds? Don't laugh. It's your insurance premiums and your taxes paying for this racketeering.
I'm sure other Kos-ians have ranted about this.
...But it's so obvious and so venal.
....Nor is it that I want pharmaceutical companies to not make a return on investment. In this case though?
The drugs they are gouging us on are older drugs.
They have been on the market for many years.
If they were strictly using this, say, to raise capital for new drugs research I might be less angry...but they are not.
They are skimming this off for pure profit...and in the process making it just that much harder to give everyone in the US affordable access to meds.
$1000+ for doxycycline?
REALLY???
