died Thursday night at 9:40 p.m. His lawyer said that Mr. King passed in his sleep, in his home in Las Vegas. He was 89 years young.
I really can't add anything that we haven't already said here at DK about Mr. King.
I do remember hearing "The Thrill is Gone" and bursting into my record store, yelling "who is this and where can I find the album?" It is bittersweet for me to hear the duet of Tracy Chapman and Mr. King singing "The Thrill is Gone". I "discovered" them both a long, long time ago and never looked back. I never expected to be gifted with a duet.
I saw Mr. King and John Mayer play together and it was also a gift. I can only imagine how the guitarists of the world are feeling this morning.
Please follow below the orange pick.
The man is gone but the thrill will never leave.
