Chomsky said this, what? Fifteen years ago?
But it's more profound now that we have another "trade deal" being rammed down our throats.
What did Chomsky really mean by this?
I recall the context being big companies actually hate the "free market". what they prefer is creating/having a monopoly; monopolies insure much larger profits.
it's the equivalent of rapper .50 cents "Get Rich or Die Trying".
Actually competing in the free market is hard work, and requires actually knowing and caring about your customers.
Who needs that crap?
"trade deals" are put into place to make sure large companies are protected from "pesky" hassles with regulations, laws, and possible litigation by people and other companies who actually believe in the free market.
Once in awhile the truth actually comes out-- as in when Dwayne Andreas, the CEO of ADM stated "When it comes to agriculture, there is no free market". he stated this while testifying in front of the Senate committee investigating his company for price fixing.
