Les Beastiables ("Les Bez"): Beasties say the darnedest things!
You have seen today's Beastiables before. However, I thought their responses this past week were so beastly that they earned another turn. Surely no one will think these beasts demonstrate leadership qualities? At any rate, since I didn't have to draw new characters, I give you two instead of one!
NOTE TO NEW READERS: This series features a new Les Beastiables cartoon every Wednesday about 1:30-1:45 PM Eastern. We indulge in a little Franglish because the French are tres classy. But I digresse.
For serious source information, please join me below the orange squirming of beasties on the hot seat. Then I'll give you some new cute photos before you leave.
According to Mediaite, Martha Raddatz of ABC News questioned Rick Santorum regarding the Confederate flag, as he stood outside Emanuel AME Church in Charleston, South Carolina:
RADDATZ: Do you not have a position on this at all?.... It’s beyond South Carolina, don’t you think?
SANTORUM: I would say that these are decisions that should be made by people. I don’t think the federal government or federal candidates should be making decisions on everything, and opining on everything. This is a decision that needs to be made here in South Carolina.
According to Politico, Lindsey Graham on Friday, June 19, 2015, stated:
The flag represents to some people, a civil war, and that was the symbol of one side. To others, it’s a racist symbol and it’s been used by people in a racist way.... The problems we’re having in South Carolina and around the world aren’t because of a symbol, but because of what’s in people’s hearts.
Politico continues that by Monday, June 22, 2015:
Graham was standing alongside Republican Gov. Nikki Haley (R), Democratic Rep. Jim Clyburn and a bipartisan group of state lawmakers as Haley said they were all there to say “it’s time to move the flag from the Capitol grounds.”
He later issued a statement:
After the tragic, hate-filled shooting in Charleston, it is only appropriate that we deal once and for all with the issue of the flag.... I hope that, by removing the flag, we can take another step towards healing and recognition – and a sign that South Carolina is moving forward.
Better late than never, I guess.
Please join me in my mission to expose the stupid and ugly in our public figures. Beastliness remembered is beastliness held accountable. We will never forget. But we will have some laughs along the way. Please feel free to discuss in the Comments.
As promised, some fun photos.
A solenodon hiding under a rock. Should we suggest that Mr. Santorum try it?
