Yesterday, local North Carolina news outlets (and Daily Kos itself) were abuzz with the depressing news that a fire which leveled a black church in Charlotte during the night (and sent at least one firefighter to the hospital) had been ruled an arson by investigators, and is now being investigated as a possible hate crime.
Curious to know how this story was being reported...so soon after the bloody massacre in neighboring South Carolina...I set up a Google alert to keep me up-to-date on local and national coverage. And it seems that an interesting pattern is emerging:
Who's Covering This Story Today:
- Local TV and print outlets? Check (pretty much every single one)
- ABC? Check. CBS? Check. NBC? Check. Washington Post? Check. USA Today? Check.
- Foreign news organizations? Check and Check and Check.
- Breitbart? No
- Red State? Nope
- The Blaze? Nada
- Daily Caller? Uh-uh

The tomb-like silence on the side which normally howls about a mythical 'war on Christianity' is positively eerie. Of course, on second thought, maybe that's not such a bad thing....
