I don't care about your politics. I just care if you're a good person. And whether we want to admit it or not, good folks come from all sorts of political stripes. Plus...okay...living back in the town where I grew up...my friends tend to be folks I've known since childhood, less based on their political leanings.
So it should be known a friend of mine, a devout libertarian, announced to me he's supporting Bernie Sanders. He's supporting Sanders even though he disagrees with ''80% of what he says".
Why?
WHY is this libertarian friend of mine supporting Sanders?
Because this friend values honesty and sincerity as an absolute good.
Regarding Sanders this friend brought up the story of Diogenes searching for an honest man. An honest person. Sanders is doing well because folks like his ideas, for sure. But he's also doing well because he's viewed as honest and genuine.
People crave Genuine. Marketers know it. This is why even Taco Bell is removing artificial coloring from their food. It's not an analogy to Sanders. No no...the Taco Bell thing is just a surface attempt at capitalizing on what American's what. I'm bringing it up because it's a simply a piece of evidence that Americans are leaning toward a desire for the real article. For something genuine. We're deluged with scripted and calculated and plastic and measured.
I'm not going to belabor this point too much. This is a blog, after all. It's mostly based on personal experience and anecdotal information. Mostly total garbage, really.
Clinton...she's got a real uphill climb to get folks to view her as Genuine. That one deficit could really be a pain in her ass.
We've seen Clinton get Obamaed once. We could see her get Obamaed a second time.
