The Whitehouse, in the colors of the rainbow, celebrating the Supreme Court decision to allow gay marriage nationally
Since when can you refuse to do part of your job, because it goes against you religious beliefs? I really don't understand how this can be lawfully done, but then Texas is it's own country and don't have to abide by Federal laws, I guess.
They are there to take advantage of all the benefits the Federal Government offers, but when it comes down to obeying all Federal Laws, I guess they don't have to obey them, because it goes against their religious beliefs.
The state's attorney general said that while the Supreme Court justices had "fabricated" a new constitutional right, they did not diminish, overrule, or call into question the First Amendment rights to free exercise of religion.
"County clerks and their employees retain religious freedoms that may allow accommodation of their religious objections to issuing same-sex marriage licenses," Paxton wrote, adding that the strength of any such claim would depend on the facts of each case.
"Justices of the peace and judges similarly retain religious freedoms and may claim that the government cannot force them to conduct same-sex wedding ceremonies over their religious objections," Paxton wrote.
More below the orange squiggle.
I didn't know, when you have a job, you have the right to refuse to do certain parts of your job, because it goes against your religious beliefs. I thought you were supposed to do your job, which you were hired to do, regardless of your religious beliefs.
By the way, which religious beliefs are they talking about? I guess they are assuming Christian beliefs, but then there is a wide array of Christian beliefs out there, which ones are you talking about? Are you going to let anyone, in any religion, refuse to do things, for their job, because it goes against their religious beliefs?
It's nice, when states, like Texas, can re-write laws, to fit their needs. I can see a business, maybe, refusing to work with a gay marriage couple, because of their religious beliefs, but when it is part of your job, to do something, how can you legally do this?
I'm so happy! I'm so happy! I'm so happy!
GAY MARRIAGE NOW LEGAL IN ALL 50 STATES!
I understand a church refusing to officiate a gay marriage, but then they are a religious organization. I can also see a Pastor or Priest refusing to marry someone, because it goes against their religious beliefs.
When you have a regular job, though, how can you pick and choose what parts of your job you want to do? If it goes against your religious beliefs, then maybe quit your job, so you won't have to deal with it, if it bothers you that much.
If businesses refuse to work with a gay couple, it is their decision, but then they run the risk of a lot of blow back, and possible lawsuits, from that gay couple. They risk other customers, who will boycott their business and major corporations pulling back and going to other LGBTQ friendly businesses.
CAN YOU BELIEVE IT? GAY MARRIAGE
IN ALL 50 STATES NOW!
Now is a good time, for LGBTQ businesses to start up and cater to the needs of these gay weddings and siphon off the business, from other businesses, who refuse to work with LGBTQ customers.
How does allowing gay marriages ruin the sanctity, of marriage. What is sanctity? Per Oxford Dictionaries Sanctity is The state or quality of being holy, sacred, or saintly:
The definition for family is A group consisting of two parents and their children living together as a unit: Notice it says 2 parents, not a man and woman parent.
Just because they are gay, does not mean they can't be married. How are they ruining the Sanctity of marriage, when they are agreeing to be totally committed to each other, loving and caring, for each other, until death do they part?
When did all the benefits, for marriage, come into being, such as being able to visit your sick partner in the hospital, being able to take on the responsibility, of that partner's children, should he die.
Being able to inherit your partner's estate, because you have been living together for so many years, loving and caring for each other all those years. Many gay couples are living decent lives, taking care of the children, if they have any, and seeing to it they are fed and clothed and get an education.
Being able to put your partner on your medical insurance, which would help keep more people from filing bankruptcy, due to unpaid medical bills. Having insurance would also eliminate many of the unpaid medical bills, which providers have to write off, because they can't collect on them.
There are so many benefits, which married couples enjoy, but gay couples can't because they are not married. Gay couples want some of those benefits, especially when they have been living a monogamous life for so many years, totally devoted to each other.
There are many gay couples, with children, who work together as a family, which I thought marriage was all about, being a family, loving and caring about each other. Granted it might not be the traditional idea of a family, with a man and woman acting as parents, to the children.
Just because it is a gay couple, does not mean they can't have children and procreate. With Lesbians, one or both, may carry a child, after being inseminated artificially or naturally. Two gay men can have a surrogate carry their child, after being inseminated with their sperm, also artificially or naturally.
If 2 people are willing to live together, as a family, loving and caring about each other, totally devoted to each other, how can allowing them to have the legal rights which, heterosexual marriages take for granted, be any different.?
Whether gay marriage was accepted or not, there are same sex couples living together, who love and care about each other, some of them with their own biological children. If they want to adopt children, who need a home, why can't they be allowed to do so and give that child the love and stability they need.
I watched a movie, where a drug addict mother, who was also a prostitute, was either totally stoned, doing drugs or was with one of her johns, in the apartment. She had a 12 yr old Down Syndrome boy, whom she would make stand in the hall, while she had sex with one of her johns.
Many times she would leave him alone in the apartment, with no knowledge what to do, if there were an emergency. She neglected him and did not even feed him decent meals, but would buy take out, or junk food, for him to eat.
A gay man, who had an apartment across the hall, from the woman and her boy saw all what was happening, the loud music, doing drugs and having sex, while her son was in the apartment, out in the hall, or wandering the streets..
It was in New York City and he saw the boy wandering the streets, one day, where he could have gotten mugged or murdered. The boy was hungry, so the man took him in and looked after him.
He had met another guy, whom he fell in love with and they moved in together, with the boy, to give him some stability. The boy's mother was jailed for a drug offense and would be in jail a long time.
They didn't report the mother to Social Services, because they were afraid, since he was disabled, he would get stuck in the system and bounced from foster home, to foster home. They managed to get her permission to care for her boy, feed him, clothe him, see that he goes to school and be there, for him, if he needed medical attention.
The 3 of them had a lot of fun together, going to the carnival and just doing things with him, like a family. They enrolled him in special needs classes and were helping him to read and write. They fed him much better, fell in love with him and wanted to adopt him to make it legal.
They had gotten the mother's written consent, to watch over him, until she got out of jail and everything was going fine, until they went to court, to adopt him. Before they could get the mother to agree to let them adopt him, she got out of jail and wanted him back.
Social Services gave him back to her, against the boy's will and even though she had promised she wouldn't do drugs or get in trouble, she went right back to what she had been doing before she went to jail. The boy wanted to go with the 2 guys, who loved him and was taking care of him, but they lived on the other side of town, so when he left his mother's to try and get back to them, he was found dead, from exposure, under a bridge.
The one guy, who was a lawyer wrote a letter and sent it to all the people, who were fighting against him and his partner adopting the boy and let them know what the results were, of their fighting to keep them from adopting the boy. He had a great home, with them, but after he was sent back to his mother, he ends up dying!
I'M SO HAPPY ABOUT GAY MARRIEAGE
NOW REPUBLICAN HEADS EXPLODING
WHAT DO WE DO? OH WHAT DO WE DO NOW?
KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK REPUBLICANS! GET ALL YOUR BAT SHIT CRAZY IDEAS OUT THERE, FOR EVERYONE TO SEE, SO THEY KNOW JUST WHO THEY VOTED FOR! YOU ARE DOING A GREAT JOB DRIVING VOTERS TO THE DEMOCRAT PARTY AND ALL YOUR WORK TO DISCOURAGE PEOPLE FROM VOTING, WON'T DO ANY GOOD!
At least one positive thing out of all this media attention, the "bat shit crazy" part of the Republican Party is giving the Republicans a lot of negative coverage, which is also adding to the number of people, I think, who will NEVER vote Republican again. I think many people, who are a lot more reasonable, are going to see how crazy the Republicans have become.
