There is currently a rec listed diary complaining about the lack of Bernie Sanders on the FP, outside of our resident expert in all things progressive Meteor Blades. The point the diary made, in and of itself, was a good one -- and one that I agree with as a Bernie Supporter. There is a distinct lack of Bernie Sanders on the FP. I am not going to assume a reason, but it is something I, and apparently many have noticed.
Bernie Sanders is a credible candidate for president, if you ask me. And he, along with Hillary Clinton (the only other credible candidate for president) should both probably be represented somewhere in the front page articles. Fact of the matter is, Bernie is pulling down huge numbers as far as crowd size is concerned, and whether you agree that is something or nothing you gotta at least take notice and write about him at some point beyond one author maybe once a day.
I do not think it is a lot to ask that at least a diary or two is thrown up about Bernie's largest campaign event to date.
As far as the other part of the rec listed diary, that we should somehow limit the diaries that we do about republicans in some fashion -- I do not agree, at all. Here is the deal -- we have to keep tabs on every single one of these fucks as much as we can, and build the meme that every single one is not a credible person, let alone political figure. People like Hunter and Laura Clawson do that work by humor, facts, and simple counter-hegemony. It is absolutely imparative that this be done every day, multiple times a day, and is shared on every single social media outlet everywhere. These people are crazy, nuts, insane, not right for america, outside of the mainstream ideologues. These are the people that want to take your healthcare, jobs, future, college education and throw them down the tubes, over nothing.
Fact of the matter is, it is the job of not only a big-d Democratic blog, but a progressive blog as well, to keep tabs on these whack-a-doos and grind them into verbal dust, loudly and often. I greatly, greatly admire the FPers who do that work every day, and hope they continue day in and day out until this blog is no more. That will be a dark day indeed.
I personally am of the opinion that we can walk and chew gum at the same time. We can both give our candidates the time and attention they deserve and keep tabs on republicans. Surely someone could have written a diary or two about Bernie's campaign stop in Madison today. There was plenty of advance notice that he not only was gonna be there, but it was gonna be huge. There could have been something there.
Then again, I feel that way about most of the FP. I absolutely think that keeping tabs on republicans is crucial, but when its every diary on the FP for hours, I think its time to draw the line. I think there could be a way more varied mix of topics on the front page.
But, hey, what the fuck do I know? I am just some middle of the road commenter and diarist here, just trying to mediate two seemingly intractable positions once again. Not sure why I do this, maybe I thought it would help stop the infighting.
Whatever it is, I fully expect this to sink off the recent list, away into dkos aether.
